As a Black woman who has worked in racial equity for over 15 years, I overstand the stress, trauma, and harm that racism and racialized systems place on our bodies and minds. My own experience with both physical and psychological impacts made me pause, step back from municipal work, and re-center myself — my rest, my healing, and my wellbeing.
That journey taught me something vital: we cannot dismantle systems of oppression while abandoning ourselves. Our liberation requires self-care, community care, and spaces that affirm our wholeness.
Out of this realization, I created WELLTH (Wellbeing + Healing) — a community and practice dedicated to Black women, Black men, and BIPOC people who deserve spaces of rest, healing, and joy. WELLTH is where we leave the daily noise behind and gather for collective care: through WELLTH Labs in local cities, wellness travel experiences, and ongoing reflections through our WELLTH Wizdoms and blog.
My own self-care practice is still unfolding. It isn’t always easy — but I am committed for the long term. I believe each of us has the right to explore healing in ways that honor our histories, our cultures, and our futures.
